Peace Songs manifested in 10 Icelandic Churches

Over the weekend a 10-day tour through 10 churches of Iceland finalized with a concert in the Fríkirkjan church in Reykjavik. After the successful touring of the “World Harmony Run” through the country the Sri Chinmoy Centre Iceland launched a second peace initiative. 10 singers from around the world performed devotional songs written by peace advocate Sri Chinmoy (1931-2007) who devoted all his live to the cause of peace and also visited Iceland many times offering peace concerts and met with members of the parliament. They first visited the church in the National Park of Thingvellir, which is around 50km from Reykjavik. Then followed concerts in the churches of Þingvallakirkja, Strandarkirkja, Hallgrímskirkja, Borgarkirkja, Hellnakirkja, Möðruvallakirkja, Húsavíkurkirkja, Skútustaðakirkja and Fríkirkjan in Reykjavík. The singer group plans further tours in the coming years. (Photo by Kedar Misani)

Sri Chinmoy in Iceland – now online

This is another feature-long film on one of the many visits of spiritiual teacher and peace advovate Sri Chinmoy (1931-2007) to a foreign country in the year 2000. The fascinating and beautiful island of Iceland honoured Sri Chinmoy with an official reception in Reykjavik, and its open-hearted citizens filled the concert hall of the town for an oustanding concert. Sri Chinmoy also visited the first two enterprises, run by students of him: the restaurant “Ecstasy’s Heart-Garden” and “Health – the richest wealth”, a health-food shop, both in the centre of the capital. Length: 1:13 h. This video is also available on DVD as are around 100 other films on Sri Chinmoy’s activities, see this blog for more details: srichinmoy.blogspot.com
